Album Review - “ EUSEXUA Afterglow” by FKA Twigs

Here is a factual statement: FKA Twigs has never released a bad project. Her string of fantastic albums continues with the release of EUSEXUA Afterglow, a follow-up to the well-received EUSEXUA, a future-forward album blending dance hits with the classic FKA Twigs mystery.

As an artist, she can only be described as a one-of-a-kind sound, where tracks are part traditional R&B, blended with Björk, but with better singing. This style is very much the case on Afterglow, as songs either make you dance, think, or give you the aesthetic of your favorite Sega Dreamcast game. There is no between, and it works out flawlessly.

Over the eleven songs, FKA proves that her best attribute is not her vocals, but her ability to creatively structure a track. Songs like "Sushi" are an audio roller coaster. “Wild and Alone” is infectious and features PinkPanthress' light voice, capturing the audio environment you would expect from these two artists.

Overall Afterglow shapes up to be a late contender for Album Of The Year. You can listen to it here.
