Album Review - Crysalis (CODA) by Jenevieve

If music were measured by the number of catchy hooks and earworm melodies, then Crysalis by Jenevieve would reach the moon and back. And if that measurement meant musical worth, then Jenevieve may have just released Thriller. This album is a gold standard of writing magic, where every song features many singable moments, a relaxing energy, and the occasional love-struck messaging to make you appreciate the subtle nuances of emotion we all experience. 

Lyrically, Jenevieve should never be compared to the Kendrick Lamar's of the world. Her beauty lies in the vibes of her music, the audio equivalent of a laid-back Los Angeles cruise with friends going to grab smoothies to beat the summer heat. It's part reminiscent, part gossip, part at-ease, and littered with main character energy in the purest ways imaginable. 

Production-wise, there's never been a better table-setter than Crysalis. The harmonic, subtle instruments are plentiful, and the drums on every song are neither overpowering nor too soft that they make the proverbial two-step impossible. Everything is set in motion with Jenevieve leading the charge, and she rides every beat with a surgeon's steadiness. 

Overall, Crysalis is easily one of the year's best projects and should be heard by the world on a global scale.
