Food deserts disproportionately deteriorate the health of Black communities due to the deficiencies in access to affordable healthy food options caused by this layered inequality.  

Many Black neighborhoods in America have every available food option besides the food that will help keep them alive. Black people constantly see their communities invaded by an abundance of fast-food restaurants, liquor stores, and high-sodium cuisine, which are known to cause heart disease and death.
