The wide-ranging suspensions of Black athletes from the 2021 Tokyo Olympics are in line with the international multi-sport event's lengthy history of punishments.

 The 2021 Olympic games are facing criticism following a series of disciplinary actions targeting Black athletes; these actions include culturally biased suspensions for Black women with higher than average testosterone levels and discriminatory hair policies for swimmers of diverse heritages.
