Single Review - “Twiggy” by Remi Wolf
Remi Wolf always had this incredibly relatable way of telling stories. It’s a bit quirky, funny, strange, yet always attached to an unshakeable shadow of truth. It is a lived experience that Remi manages to make enjoyable through music. That’s essentially the greatest gift of Remi Wolf besides her beautiful voice, of course.
The story itself follows a trend of starting as adorable as can be, with Remi commenting on the subject of the story’s “Twiggy little butt.” The world has perhaps far too many love stories to count. Fewer stories capture the romantically grim realizations of casual-non-committal relationships, and that’s exactly where Remi guides the viewer. One where the relationship is only available during the night shift, and daytime sightings are few and far between.
Through the three verses, Remi sways back and forth between admiration of her part-time crush (lover?) and confusion about their decisions to never take things to the final level of situationship before love. It’s an unfortunate reality that many have experienced, matched with Remi’s trademark low growl in her singing.
Through three minutes, Remi offers one of the best signs in music: a new Remi Wolf album is on the way. Currently, her entire discography is chalked with all hits and no true misses. Check out “Twiggy” if you have the opportunity.
